Give Inner Peace A Chance
Meditation Journey with Elephant, October 2019
How can I create peace?
Peace does not need to be created. It awaits those who seek it. It dwells in the quiet and the moments of gratitude. It is always available; it just needs a place to reside in the hearts of those who would like to experience it.
Make space.
If you fill your life with worry or need or anger or fear or pride or even conviction, you may not have room. Those things make so much noise. Remove yourself from the noise. And then remove the noise from inside yourself. Nature always helps. Its ambient sounds are different. They can bring you into peace. In fact, they can whisper that peace into you if you let them. Listen to what the leaves say… and the birds… and the rustling grass… the trickle of water through rocks in a stream. Make your eyes happy. Let them indulge in sunlit trees and dancing clouds. Taste the air if you can. You senses, if given the chance to absorb the natural environment, will quiet the chaos in your monkey mind and replace it with serenity and sometimes wisdom.
There will be resistance and you will have to surrender. You will want to own peace. You will want to control your environment. You will want the peace to solve things for you as the noise attempt to reassert itself. It takes a while to surrender to peace and to trust something that cannot be driven or directed. It is not “active” in the way people are accustomed to, but simply embodying peace is herculean.
