Innovative Parenting explains how NJ's Senate Education Committee pushed a last minute pause button to silence dissent on S1796 (Homeschool Bill)
For parents and health freedom advocates, this is what legislative victories generally look like in New Jersey.
New Jersey voices were heard! Advocates from across the state communicated their opposition to bill S1796 via phone calls, emails & social media. Over 3,750 emails, in 24 hours, were sent to NJ lawmakers through our action campaign with our national partner Stand for Health Freedom! New Jersey families showed up in Trenton today- the power of grassroots activists is extraordinary!
The message? S1796 threatens homeschool freedom in NJ.The bill was held (in New Jersey, when a bill is “held”, it means the bill is not advancing at that time—it’s essentially paused in the legislative process). But let’s be real—the way it was done was a slap in the face to every parent who showed up.
Senator Vin Gopal said the bill was being pulled “to talk with stakeholders.”
Except… the room was full of stakeholders: parents, educators, and advocates who rearranged their lives to be there.
No testimony allowed.
No real transparency.
No respect.
If you’re going to hold a bill:
Let people speak
Mark it “for discussion only”
Don’t announce it last-minute!
New Jersey, we showed up. The system tried to shut us out.
But we will not be silenced.Thank you to everyone who took action. We’re not done. We’re watching. Keep sharing the “Call to Action” so more NJ residents can take action!
Essentially, homeschooling parents have bought some time. Parents can take a moment to catch their breath, but the battle is far from over. New Jersey is quickly transforming from Garden State to Surveillance State and they’re not likely to let homeschoolers slip under the radar.
Yes, it’s a victory. But those who have been paying attention to NJ politics (and politics in general) recognize this as a “wait until fewer people are paying attention” approach to getting unpopular laws passed.
Better yet, they’ll seek out some obscure and isolated example of irresponsible homeschooling, flood mainstream and social media with narratives about why new laws are “needed” and THEN repost the bill.
In other words, they’re waiting for an opportunity to sneak this through.
New Jersey’s Immunization Registry
Furthermore, the New Jersey Senate will soon vote on a bill (S1956) to automatically add all state residents (born on or after January 1, 1998) to a statewide electronic vaccine registry when they get vaccinated.
Under the proposed legislation, New Jersey residents could still submit a written request to opt out. However, the bill allows the commissioner of health to deny opt-out requests during a declared public health emergency, a state of emergency, an outbreak of a communicable disease, or the immediate threat of an outbreak of a communicable disease.
The power to deny requests would apply “for one or more vaccines for a specified period of time,” according to the bill.
Once again, we’re being put in a position of having our rights removed in the event of an “emergency” that can be readily fabricated.
Your data is the new currency.
Consider all of this against the backdrop of Palantir’s new role in our administration.
We’re talking about the creating of a biometric surveillance state with predictive algorithms.
And Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” is poised to render State leadership helpless to protect us. New Jersey legislators can therefore make laws to collect all our data and then wash its hands of the repercussions.
Section 43201, titled the “Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology Modernization Initiative,” includes this stunning line:
“No State or political subdivision thereof may enforce any law or regulation regulating artificial intelligence models… during the 10-year period beginning on the date of the enactment of this Act.”
—Sec. 43201(c)(1)
Whitney Webb explains here. This screams Minority Report “pre-crime” surveillance.
If you listen to NJ Senator Joe Vitale and others who have been chipping away at medical freedom and parental rights at legislative hearings, you can hear the “pre-crime” scene being built.
Keep your eyes open, NJ!
Meanwhile, get out in the sunshine and enjoy your real life and all the freedoms what still come with it this weekend.
