Scott Jennings: "I’m interpreting the results tonight as just the revenge of the regular old working class American, the anonymous American who has been crushed, insulted, condescended to"
I’m sad for all of the people who were deceived by the media and now grieve. I know there’s a lot of trauma and a lot of fear. I’m hoping that we can demonstrate to the people who are scared that we can work together for better outcomes for all of us.
American people aren’t monsters. Despite what the media said. Despite the memes, TikToks and soundbites that convinced us otherwise.
I was happy to hear this from Scott Jennings:
This is a mandate.
He’s won the national popular vote for a Republican for the first time since 2004. This is a big deal. This isn’t backing into the office.
This is a mandate to do what you said you were gonna do… get the economy working for regular working class Americans, fix immigration, try to get crime under control, try to reduce the chaos in the world… this is a mandate from the American people to do that.
I’m interpreting the results tonight as just the revenge of the regular old working class American, the anonymous American who has been crushed, insulted, condescended to… They’re not garbage. They’re not Nazis. They’re just regular people who get up and go to work every day and are trying to make a better life for their kids and they feel like they have been told to just shut up when they have complained about the things that are hurting them in their own lives.
I also feel like this election, as we sit her and pour over this tonight, is something of an indictment of the political information complex. I mean we’ve been sitting around here for the last couple of weeks, and the story that was portrayed was not true. We were told Puerto Rico was going to change the election… Liz Cheney, Nikki Haley voters, women lying to their husbands… Before that it was Tim Walz and the camo hats. Night after night after night we were told all these things and gimmicks were going to push Harris over the line and we were just ignoring the fundamentals. Inflation. People feeling like they were barely able to tread water at best. That was the fundamentals of the election.
So I feel like both parties should always look at the results of an election and figure out what went right and what went wrong. But I think all of us who cover elections and talk about elections and do this on a day-to-day basis, we have to figure out how to understand, talk to and listen to the half of the country that rose up tonight and said “We’ve had enough.”
Former DNC fundraiser, Evan Barker, tried to get this message across…
I thought I was part of the anti-war party. I thought I was part of the party that fought for the underdog, that championed working people. When and how did we just become the party of academia and affluence? Because that’s what we are right now.
So did Robert F. Kennedy Jr, Nicole Shanahan, Tulsi Gabbard, Joe Rogan, Elon Musk…
Before that, Brandon Straka… the crunchy moms, the “anti-vaxxers”…
The MSM responded with mockery, hit pieces, mischaracterizations and accusations of “misinformation.” Curiosity was shut down time and time again.
So much suffering could have been avoided… so much empowerment could have happened if Americans had been permitted to have more nuanced and meaningful conversations.
I’m hoping we find our way back to each other in the wake of this election. I really hope we can turn off the TV, look up from our feeds and talk to each other like human beings. I hope we can make curiosity safe again.
There is much work to do but yes, we can recover and thrive again. We are Americans!
Donald J. Trump is the only living person who has won the Presidency three times.
(Due to term limits he will not be permitted to win a fourth election.) 😎
With Biden/Harris voted out of office, we are now "unburdened by what has been." 😂
