Friends and patients often ask about this, so I thought I’d put a few things in one place. (For clarity, these are not my recommendations, just a review of the protocols and research that’s out there).
Like many, I’ve been trying to learn about ways to prevent and address COVID-linked illness and hysteria since March 2020. In fact, I was trying to share Dr. Paul Marik’s MATH+ protocol (which has since evolved) with members of my local Board of Health as early as April 2020.
This board member was kind enough to forward my e-mail to then BOH president Lawrence Budnick. Here was his response:
So, public health authorities were strongly recommending AGAINST taking supplements to try to prevent infection since the beginning of the pandemic (despite removing liability from anyone treating COVID and allowing for all kinds of dangerous medical experiments.) You can read more about Dr. Eddy Bresnitz and the doctoring of information here.
All of this to say that many of these recommendations have been out there and evolving for a while as people have continued to study ways to create better outcomes for all of us. There’s a LOT of science out there now and I encourage you to review it for yourself.
I can’t help wondering where we’d be if all of it had been allowed to be part of public discourse from the beginning. But let’s start where we are…
Why you may need a spike detox
These three doctors explain what a growing body of science is showing us in a nutshell:
According to Dr. Paul Marik:
Spike protein is probably one of the most toxic compounds that human beings can be exposed to. Spike causes profound inflammation. It activates clotting. It activates the clotting cascade. It activates platelets. It causes autoantibodies. It causes damage to the endothelium of the blood vessels. And then it has some really bad effects on genes and many of the genes involved in cancer suppression. So we now know that spike protein, although people want to ignore and deny it, actually activates many genetic pathways that lead to cancer.
Dr. Peter McCullough echoes these concerns:
As a doctor, I have never seen something so injurious to the human brain. It invades the heart, it causes brain and heart damage, it invades the bone marrow, it stimulates the antibodies to actually start to attack our own platelets and other cells in our body. It causes blood clotting and damage to blood vessels like we’ve never seen. Data from University of Pittsburgh suggesting that it causes cancer… It’s a weapon. In fact there are three papers… they’ve actually concluded it is a bioweapon… according to strict military criteria, it’s a bioweapon.
Dr. Mary Tyler Bowden elaborates:
So I started looking at these spike protein antibody levels… I can tell immediately if somebody had the shot. In the vaccinated, the antibody levels are - I did an average last night - 13,000. In the unvaccinated, the average is 1000. There’s a huge discrepancy… Most of these people have gotten 2, maybe 3 (shots). Nobody’s gotten more than that. None of these people have been sick recently with COVID. It suggests that spike protein is still active and still replicating possibly in the body. I mean mRNA in these shots is not mRNA, it’s a synthetic mRNA and it was made to avoid degradation. So it was made to stay in the body. That was the purpose of modifying it. So when I see these levels like this, it really concerns me that we have an issue with this ongoing spike protein in the body.
You can review more information on the damage caused by spike protein, mRNA and COVID shots here, here, here, here and here.
Clearly we need solutions. Below are some of the detox hopefuls.
Ivermectin
Ivermectin is a Nobel-prize winning medication. best known for its anti-parasitic properties. An inexpensive and widely available medication, ivermectin is included on the WHO’s list of essential medicines and has been used throughout the world for decades. It was famously attacked and suppressed throughout the pandemic (along with hydroxychloroquine), not because it was ineffective or harmful, but because it was demonstrating early success that would have threatened the Emergency Use Authorization of highly-anticipated COVID vaccines.

Dr. Marik has been actively working on solutions since Day 1 of the so-called pandemic. Here’s what he has to say about ivermectin:
Ivermectin is a remarkable drug… If you had to design a drug for COVID, it would look exactly like ivermectin… It’s anti-viral, so it works against a whole host of RNA viruses. This is indisputable. It is anti-inflammatory. We know this. There are multiple studies showing ivermectin is a very powerful anti-inflammatory. It stimulates a process called autophagy, which is very important in the process of healing, which is one of the main mechanisms we use to get rid of spike protein. And Ivermectin, believe it or not, stimulates autophagy.
The other thing it does which is important is it improves the microbiome. We have all of these bacteria in our gut, and what happens is, COVID and the vaccine changes your microbiome in a very unfavorable manner. It causes profound changes in the microbiome… Ivermectin helps restore the mircobiome. So it truly is a multifunctional… It works both for early COVID and it’s very effective for the vaccine-injured.
Additional considerations for Ivermectin:
There has been some debate about ivermectin’s potential role on fertility. You can listen to Dr. Mike Yeadon’s assertions about that here. Dr. William Makis and Dr. Ryan Cole respond here and here.
Others have suggested that more recent changes in ivermectin’s formulation may have a negative impact. You can review their concerns here and here.
I think it’s helpful to remember as you review all of this information that there is no one-size-fits-all approach for any drug/herb/remedy/supplement. You can find the prescribing information for ivermectin here.
I-Recover Protocol
Ivermectin is included in FLCCC/Independant Medical Alliance I-Recover protocol for treatment of Post-Vaccination Syndrome, along with black seed oil (nigella sativa), NAC, nattokinase and other medications and supplements.
You can review the evidence for treatments using ivermectin here.
Ivermectin is also demonstrating anticancer potential in a variety of studies (often with fenbendezole).
McCullough Protocol
Dr. Peter McCullough has created a different protocol including,
Nattokinase - 2000 IU 2x/day
Bromelian - 500mg 1x/day
Curcumin - 500 mg 2x/day
McCullough Protocol: Base Spike Detoxification (BSD). A: Dissolution of spike protein-induced thrombus. Nattokinase directly degrades fibrinolysis-resistant fibrin (from spike protein), and bromelain upregulates fibrinolysis. B: Inhibition of spike protein via ACE2 receptors. Bromelain and curcumin block the ACE2 receptor, preventing spike protein from binding. C: Proteolytic degradation of spike protein. Nattokinase and bromelain degrade spike proteins, rendering them inactive. D: Attenuation of spike protein-induced inflammation. Bromelain and curcumin downregulate the NF-kB signaling pathway induced by spike protein, leading to the suppression of inflammatory molecules. E: BSD treatment protocol. The full treatment regimen and the addition of other compounds based on clinical indication are illustrated. Abbreviations: TPA = tissue plasminogen activator, PAI-1 = plasminogen activator inhibitor-1, ACE2 = angiotensin converting enzyme-2, NF-kB = nuclear factor kappa B, S1/S2 = spike protein subunits S1/S2, TLR4 = toll-like receptor 4. *Created with BioRender.com. Panel E adapted from McCullough et al. [43].

The Wellness Company (TWC) offers Dr. McCullough’s formulas for spike protein detox here. (FYI: Some people have reservations about The Wellness Company and its backers. Here’s a link to a deep dive on that.)
Amazon now has similar formulas available, but I can’t vouch for any of them.
WHC Spike Protein Detox
The World Council for Health also offers a Spike Protein Detox Guide that provides a rather comprehensive explanation of the varying roles of each recommended medication or supplement. You can check it out here.
Nicotine
My friend, Tau Braun, was the first to explain to me that nicotine binds to the same ACE2-receptors (ACE2R) that the spike protein binds to, thus preventing COVID infections. To my knowledge, he was the first to suggest a protocol that included nicotine-gum for COVID prevention (and at least one friend who tried it noted that nicotine gum restored her taste and smell post COVID.)
Since then other prominent voices - most notably Dr. Bryan Ardis - have touted the healing potential of nicotine. Dr. McCullough has also acknowledged the potential role of using nicotine patches in the treatment of “Long-Covid” and vaccine injury.
And here’s another great compilation exploring much of this through the lens of homeopathy from Emily Marshall (who I’ve just now discovered):
At some point, I’ll circle back and write about this from a Chinese medicine perspective. I do love how examining these problems through different lenses offer deeper understanding and greater empowerment.
