Wake Up, Doc!
california's assembly bill 2098 is a medical gag order
There’s one person I think of when I think of California’s AB 2098:
Remember him?
If the name isn’t familiar, you might know him as the “disgraced doctor” who was discredited and struck off the medical register following his 1998 Lancet study linking the MMR vaccine to autism. Here’s a relevant excerpt from the “smoking gun:”
Measles virus and measles vaccination have both been implicated as risk factors for Crohn's disease and persistent measles vaccine-strain virus infection has been found in children with autoimmune hepatitis.
We did not prove an association between measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine and the syndrome described. Virological studies are underway that may help to resolve this issue.
If there is a causal link between measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine and this syndrome, a rising incidence might be anticipated after the introduction of this vaccine in the UK in 1988. Published evidence is inadequate to show whether there is a change in incidence or a link with measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine.
A man lost his career and his reputation over this.
He was literally reduced to a cartoon villain. Here’s the comic book version of the mainstream media story…
…ending with a critique of the media.
Interesting…
Here’s The Real Story of Dr. Andrew Wakefield written by Mary Holland. It goes through all the details of the controversy, point by point. It’s probably not the scandal you imagined…
And here’s a trailer for The Pathological Optimist, a documentary about Wakefield.
If you do a little digging, you quickly discover that, Andrew Wakefield - credited with founding the “anti-vaccination movement” - committed the crime of making people second guess BigPharma and regulatory authorities.
And, now that thousands of other medical professionals are echoing his concerns, Gavin Newsom is about to make that illegal.
If you’re not convinced about Dr. Wakefield, forget about him for a minute and let's survey the current climate…
You must have noticed by now that something’s not right.
Behind closed doors, every health practitioner I speak to is witnessing things they’ve never seen before… in younger and younger people… at tragic and astonishing rates.
And almost everyone is afraid to speak up.
This is not by accident.

The board reported that it had received two complaints concerning Nass, who is an internist in Ellsworth, Maine, and an active member of the anti-vaccine group Children’s Health Defense, the news outlet reported. The complaints alleged that Nass had spread misinformation about COVID-19.
Nass has reportedly been critical of vaccine effectiveness and supported the use of ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19, despite insufficient evidence that they are effective in fighting the virus. (emphasis mine)
The board is also looking to conduct a psychological evaluation of Nass, Maine Public reported.

Doctors (and nurses) are being punished for trying to offer perspective and options.
I recently had a conversation with a doctor who shared how the curtain was pulled back for him through the unfolding of the COVID narrative. He couldn’t explain why others around him couldn’t or wouldn’t see it. Because it was glaring to him. Suddenly, he was unable to practice medicine. It was unprecedented… to be prohibited from prescribing the medication he felt might be best suited for his patients? to be unable to consider an “off-label” use in a circumstance where no other treatment option was available? to be unable to even talk about it or ask questions?
The practice of medicine changed dramatically, overnight, and almost no one batted an eye. Some discovered that there was a lot of money to be made if they just kept quiet. Others discovered that there was much to be lost if they didn’t. And the self-censorship began.
But it’s about to get worse. And permanent. If people don’t start speaking up.
And it’s not just about the future of science and medicine. This is about the FUTURE. Period.
Medical groupthink is about to become law.

The California legislature has advanced a bill that would allow the state's medical regulators to punish doctors for spreading false information about the COVID-19 pandemic, such as vaccine efficacy claims, drawing complaints that it could violate doctors' freedom of speech.
The bill, AB 2098, which passed the state Senate on Monday night, would give the Medical Board of California and the Osteopathic Medical Board of California, the agencies that license physicians, the ability to suspend or revoke doctor's state licenses for spreading COVID-19 disinformation or misinformation, which is vaguely defined as information that goes against "contemporary scientific consensus."
Or for a more “mainstream” angle…

Assembly Bill 2098 by Assembly Member Evan Low (D-Campbell) would make it easier for the Medical Board of California to discipline doctors who promote COVID-19 misinformation by classifying it as unprofessional conduct…
…Nick Sawyer, an emergency room doctor who created a group called No License for Disinformation, said the bill would affect a small group of doctors who spread blatantly inaccurate and extreme misinformation that a physician knows to be false, or that they should know to be false given their medical training. Sawyer said he believes the state’s medical board is authorized to go after those doctors now, but that the bill is needed because the agency has been slow to react.
There’s a reason they are coming after health care practitioners. They recognize that you are the gatekeepers of the future of health. I don’t know that there is any way to avoid discomfort at this point…
They’ve been working on this for a while…

Somehow, even though much of the “misinformation”, has since been revisited (think Wuhan lab origin, Ivermectin, Remdesivir, failure of shots to stop infection… then transmission… failure to prevent hospitalization… then death), the campaign to silence dissent has only grown.
And the censorship is paired with a simultaneous effort manufacture consensus.
Dr. Tess Lawrie got a first-hand glimpse of these efforts when she watched a colleague change the conclusions on his report on ivermectin, effectively putting it off limits.
But it’s not hopeless. Health practitioners who want to continue to “First Do No Harm” need not stand alone. There are others. Find them.
Here’s a head start…

Dear California Legislators,
On behalf of hundreds of physician and surgeon members of Physicians for Informed Consent (PIC) and thousands of our health-freedom members, in the interest of the health and safety of all Californians, and in allegiance to the U.S. Constitution, we oppose AB 2098— and deem it as the worst bill of the 2022 legislative session.
Without California doctors being free to speak their mind and educate the public, regarding COVID-19 or vaccination or any other controversial topic, no other public health laws will matter as legislators will not be able to obtain knowledge from a breadth of physician and surgeon opinions, and the public will not be able to obtain their doctor’s honest opinion — because doctors who think and act differently from the contemporary “applicable standard of care” will fear losing their medical license. Section 2234.1 of the Business and Professions Code respects and protects doctors who think outside the box. AB 2098 blatantly proposes a new law “abridging the freedom of speech” of doctors and violating the right of doctors to “petition the Government for a redress of grievances,” which violates the first amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
Public health is not achieved, and scientific knowledge does not progress, by censoring dissenting physicians and surgeons or anyone else. AB 2098 is anti-doctor, anti-public health, anti-science, and anti-free speech and we urge you to oppose it.
Sincerely,
Shira Miller, M.D.
Founder and President Physicians for Informed Consent

Now go back and give some thought to Andy Wakefield.
I personally thing he deserves a big apology.
Basically, the doctor cannot have an opinion of their own. So the State has assumed the role of the doctor and the actual doctor is just their puppet. Got it.
The few good docs will either leave or go stealth mode. But at this point it's not going to make as much difference as the trust has been broken for too many (there were far too many docs pushing the narrative anyway) Those in the control group are going to stay in it regardless of what any regular doctor says - they have either sourced the necessary drugs or likely won't need them as they now have been infected/recovered and have natural immunity plus the fact that the virus has mutated away from its worst version. The censorship sucks but the well-deserved damage to the system's credibility is already done.
