I seriously doubt 8 million went to help jails fight opioid addiction...!

Technically it was "an $8 million investment to partner with county jails to provide medication-assisted treatment to individuals with opioid addiction who are justice-involved while in jail and post-release." So the $ will be used to put addicts on other drugs, both in prison and post-release, in the name of treatment. It looks like it's part of this program ... https://today.rowan.edu/news/2021/12/cmsru-lands-opioid-grant.html

But, as we both know, stated intention and outcome can be very different.

My brother was in prison with heroine addiction and said it's immediate cold withdrawal and no one cares if you die, you're lucky to get ibuprofen...hope it's better other places, this was Virginia. And yes, he's been addicted to methadone now for years since release...UHG!

I'm sorry about your brother's addiction and his experience. I suspect it has way more to do with using prisoners to peddle the next pharmaceutical "solution" to a problem that was started by pharmaceuticals.
